ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany's Music and Arts Week kicked off this weekend and will last through next Sunday with events like the Georgia Throwdown and Octoberfest. Both feature a variety of country music, but for those hoping to see some music that's a little heavier, you're still in luck.

Four alternative and metal rock bands have joined together for their first annual concert called Rocktober Fest.

Those bands include Dog Head, Torq, Intoxicated Logic, and Stone Stephen.

The concert will kick off Saturday at 7 p.m. at the State Theatre in downtown Albany.

Tickets will be available at the door for $10.

"We brought in the best bands that we could find to do it, we have four bands that rock, they are ready to come in and jam and we're ready to do it," says Jerry Smith with Stone Stephen.

"People complain a lot that there's no rock bands, there's no place to see rock bands and we're trying to do it for them and it's up to them to show up and make it happen over and over again," says concert organizer and Stone Stephen band member Sean Carver.

Organizers say they hope to hold benefits concerts in the future to sponsor suicide prevention and breast cancer awareness organizations.
