SYLVESTER, GA -

Folks in South Georgia came together to help the young Lee County teen who's scalp was torn off in a farming accident.

A co-ed softball tournament was held in Sylvester Saturday to raise money for 13 year-old Brooklyn Parrish.  She was helping her grandfather drill post holes with a tractor auger in July when her ponytail was caught in the PTO shaft.

Doctors were able to re-attach her scalp and she's been recovering ever since.  But family says the hospital bills are overwhelming.

"We're just thankful for the turnout, that all those that should up and participate, we appreciate their contributions and taking their time out to help us raise some money. And I just want to thank everybody that's donated items, whatever it may be and thank all those that showed up and played today and helped out," said Stacey Hannah, the tournament director.

All of the proceeds from the concession stand, team entry fees and raffle ticket sales will go to the Parrish family for medical fees.
