ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Hundreds of people walked one mile Saturday to raise awareness for special needs children.
It was the first annual Buddy Walk at Legacy Park for Down Syndrome. Over 150 people came out to enjoy carnival games, jump houses, and music.
The event organizers has a son with down syndrome and says even though Albany may be a small town, there are many resources available for people with special needs.
"It was tough, we actually didn't find out until after he was born, he had a pretty severe heart condition, so we found out after the fact, he was born in Atlanta so we had access to all the resources in Atlanta," says Kayla Luckie, Organizer.
She hopes to continue this Buddy Walk for years to come and help raise money for down syndrome research.
