ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Folks from all over Southwest Georgia came out to Darton State College for a good cause, Friday evening.

Many came out to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Fundraiser walk at Darton.

A memorial service for all those who have lost a loved one to leukemia or lymphoma was held at the event.

All funds raised will be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and will help to find a cure for cancer.

"We are ultimately trying to find research for a better treatment, but more importantly for a cure for cancer and we're getting very close to that cure. All of the money raised here tonight is getting us one step closer to that goal," said Event Organizer Stuart Winborne.
