SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

If you live in Sylvester or just passing through, you might have noticed an uplift to some of the oldest landmarks in the city.

Renovations to the Old Locomotive on the corner of highway 82 and Main Street are almost done, complete with a new paint and shelter.

But it wasn't the only thing that had a face lift.

City workers just finished up installing new sidewalks and lamp post to Isabella Street, which leads to several schools in the city.

"I think both projects are great for the community. It lets folks know that we are doing things in Sylvester and we are very proud of that," says Mayor of Sylvester, Bill Yearta.

Both projects were partially funded by two federal grants aimed at restoring historic city districts.
