THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A south Georgia Kiwanis Club cooked thousands of chickens today for an annual fundraiser.

Folks can pick up a plate at Thomasville High School from 4pm to 7pm to support the Thomasville Kiwanis Club.

Volunteers spent about 8 hours cooking more than two thousand chickens behind the high school.

"This is our annual barbeque chicken fundraiser and we use the money that we get from the sales of this to help fund our scholarships which last year we gave out 10 and we're hoping to give out ten or more this year," said President Judy Davis.

Each plate costs seven dollars and consists of half a chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, and a tasty cake.
