THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A federal task force is now leading the search for a Thomas County Prison escapee.

The Southeast Fugitive Regional Task force is trying to locate 38-year old Jerry Darrin Ross.

Ross walked off a work detail on Pavo and Airport Roads on September 25th.

Police suspect Ross stole a bucket truck in Thomas County soon after the escape.

But the task force will not release any other details about the search.

"I can just tell you we are actively following up on leads and developing intel on him in an attempt to get him back into custody," said Investigator Jeff Wessel.

Ross is from Irwin County and was serving time for a burglary conviction.

When captured, Ross faces up to 10 years in prison for the escape and another 15 for the stolen vehicle.
