Thomas County Central wins first region title

Thomas County Central rode the arm of sophomore pitcher Erika Greek to their first ever region title.

The #1 seed Lady Yellow Jackets defeated Lee County 5-0 to win the 1-AAAAA softball title in Leesburg Thursday night.

Thomas County Central plated 5 runs in the first three innings and then used their pitching and defense to bring home a long sought after region title.

Greek allowed just one run in 20 innings during the region tournament.

Thomas County Central head coach Robin Trammell said. "I have been blessed. Every year that I have been at Central to have great kids. This is a tribute to all the ones that I have had before and have worked hard. We have been kind of slowly getting there. We got there tonight."

Lee County defeated Harris County in extra innings to advance to the championship game.

Thomas County Central and Lee County will get to host GHSA 1st round playoff games next week and #3 Harris County and #4 Northside Columbus will be on the road.
