Blazers want to win back Peach Basket

The stakes are always big when rivals Valdosta State and West Georgia play in football.

This year's battle for the Peach Basket is no exception Saturday afternoon in Carrollton.

VSU head coach David Dean has been on both sides of this rivalry and he knows how much a win means to both schools.

The Blazers though can use a conference win.

They have dropped four straight conference games dating back to last season.

One of those conference losses was to West Georgia when the Wolves scored the game wining touchdown in the final seconds.

The Blazers know they cannot have another loss if they want to stay in the race for the Gulf South title and the DII playoffs.

David Dean said. "For right now for us. Our backs are against the wall. We feel like if we want to get to the playoffs that we are going to have to win. We are going to have to go up there. Play well and come away with a victory."

Valdosta State is 10-3 at West Georgia.

Game time is 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Carrollton.
