ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Next week is Fire Prevention Week across the nation.

Albany Firefighters will again teach thousands of South Georgia children about fire danger, hosting their annual Kids Fire Safety Show .

Wednesday Firefighters collected entries in their annual poster contest from school's across South Georgia. Magnolia Elementary teacher Lavetta Lee's second grade class won last year's contest. They know teaching young students fire safety saves lives, because one of their students credited that show with helping her escape a fire in their home.

Magnolia Second Grade teacher Myra Weston said "She remembered some of those safety fire rules about fire prevention, and was able to assist her family in getting out."

The Albany Fire Department's Fire Safety Show will be held October 10 at the Albany Civic Center, and organizers expect four thousand young students from across South Georgia to attend.
