Vigil held in memory of cold case murder victim

Relatives and friends of a murdered Dawson man held a candlelight vigil in his memory, Tuesday night, on what would have been his 74th birthday.

Nearly 5 years after the crime, Lucious Buchanan's murder remains unsolved.

GBI agents continue to work the case and the family is asking anyone with information to come forward.

It was an emotional night in Dawson as family and friends remembered Buchanan who was murdered inside his home in January 2008.

"I would not wish this on anyone to have to endure such a pain of the way I found him and the memories of emotions that are just unbearable," said Buchanan's daughter Cynthia Oxford.

"Father God, if we can all get together in your name, we'll see Brother Buchanan once again. So right now we ask that you touch this family," said Sardis Baptist Church Pastor Willard Weston.

Buchanan's killer is still on the loose.

Cynthia Oxford still has questions about her father's death and pleads for his murderer to come forward.

"Whoever he or she may be, if you would just please come forward and just turn yourself in. I'm praying for you, that God will open up your heart and mind and let you come forward," said Oxford.

For now, the community continues to mourn the death of a beloved friend and family man as the search for his killer continues.

"74 years, that would be a long time to just take someone's life for no apparent reason because my dad would give you anything if you only asked," said Oxford.

If you have any information in this case, you're asked to call the GBI at 777-2080.
