Westover's Don Mills favors discipline on the field

Posted: Updated:

After much encouragement from his father Westover star linebacker Don Mills says he gave football shot and it was one of the best decisions he's ever made.

Mills is a member of our WALB Top Ten team and credits much of his success on the football field to his father who is in the Marine Corps. He says he's picked up on his Dad's discipline which quickly helped him emerge as the leader of the Patriots defense.

Mills maintains a 3.9 grade point average in school and realized he could use football as a gateway to college when he saw his skills mature a few years ago.

Mills said "I honestly didn't start working on my skill set until my 11th grade year. Between the 10th grade and 11th grade summer that's when I really starting working on it thinking I can go to college with this so I really started working harder to better myself."

He added if football doesn't work out, he plans on being a doctor.
