COLQUITT, GA (WALB) -

The new Miller County school board suspended the school superintendent Monday night.

At a special meeting Monday evening, five new board members were sworn in, all appointed by the Governor after he removed the previous board from office because of ongoing problems that threatened the school system's accreditation.

The new members say they're not sure the only problems were with the old board members. During their first regular meeting following their swearing-in, they suspended Superintendent Robert McIntosh with pay for 30 days while they get a better handle on things.

The middle school principal will take over the superintendent's duties.

Members elected Buddy Johnson school board chairman and Monica Posey vice chairman.
