The rain didn't stop excited early voters from camping outside of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections overnight.  The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections says 1,895 people came out to vote today.  In 2008 there was only around 570 that cast their vote on the first day of early voting.

Early voting started at 8 a.m. sharp on Tuesday morning.

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson was among the first to cast his ballot. The local elected officials and Obama supporters were also joined by Craig Robinson, the brother of U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama.

On Monday, State Senator Nina Turner and members of the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus encouraged Ohioans to spend the night outside local early voting locations in a statewide "Sleep Out The Vote" campaign.

"Recent efforts by Ohio's Republican leaders to restrict early voting opportunities and disenfranchise thousands of Ohio voters are reprehensible," said Senator Turner.  "Even so, it is imperative that all those who care about liberty, justice, and the right to vote make sure their voices are heard."

Sleep Out The Vote is an initiative started by Senate Minority Leader Eric Kearney in 2008 to engage voters and raise awareness of early voting options in Ohio.  This year, the Ohio Senate Democrats have expanded the event to combat potential confusion caused by repeated changes in voting rules and to spur citizens to take advantage of early voting options.
