ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
The Dougherty County Police Department went before the Dougherty County Finance Committee for a second time on Monday.
Chief Don Cheek told board members DCP and Dougherty County Sheriff's Office should not be consolidated.
He talked about how both departments have different functions. He even presented data that compared DCP Salaries/Benefits to those who work in the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office.
"Today was to discuss the differences in the Sheriff's Office and Police Department. They're two entirely different organizations," said Dougherty County Police Chief Don Cheek.
The Dougherty County Finance Committee will meet every week in October to finish budget talks.
