    Ravi Mikel Givens was arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He is being held in the Dougherty County jail. Givens, who played ball at Westover and Stetson
    Agents say that police responded to the apartment because of a burglar alarm. Officers found the back door broken open and went inside. That's where they detected a strong odor of marijuana, and saw pot in plain view.

ANDERSONVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Andersonville National Historic Site, home of the National Prisoner of War Museum, is pleased to announce the installation of Recent Acquisitions, a new temporary exhibit at the Prisoner of War Museum.

This exhibit features items donated to the museum collection by former POWs, their families, and others in recent years. The images and artifacts relate to the prisoner of war experience during the Civil War, World War II from the European and Pacific theaters, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

The objects on display were used for eating, recording daily activities, and personal items used by the prisoners during their captivity as well as items used to remember POWs. Among the artifacts on display for the first time are a knife made by Korean War POW William Borer, a pair of socks knitted by World War II POW Larry Dennis, and a poem by Vietnam War POW Theodore W. Triebel. These items help illustrate the complexities of the Prisoner of War experience.

Andersonville National Historic Site would like to thank the following contributors who made this exhibit possible: Donna Jo Woollen, William F. Borer, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Murphy, John H. Anderson, Paul F. Hannan, David G. Rawlings, Theodore W. Triebel, Lawerence J. Dwyer, Joseph Casano, Betty Cozens, Laurence Dennis, Rita Grenier, Muriel King, Virginia Niebrand, Faye Lowe, Marilyn Hodges, Robert W. Phillips, and Midway Village Museum. The exhibit opened September 27, 2012 and the public can view it through early February of 2013.

Andersonville National Historic Site is located 10 miles south of Oglethorpe, GA and 10 miles northeast of Americus, GA on Georgia Highway 49. The national park features the National Prisoner of War Museum, Andersonville National Cemetery and the site of the historic Civil War prison, Camp Sumter. Andersonville National Historic Site is the only national park within the National Park System to serve as a memorial to all American prisoners of war. Park grounds are open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with the museum opening at 9:00 a.m. Admission is free.
