The Monroe High football team paid Albany High back after the Indians edged out a one point win last season. The Tornados beat Albany 12-0 under the lights at Hugh Mills on Saturday.
Monroe struck first in the first quarter when Charles Stafford hit a falling Devonntavis Campbell on the left side to give the Tornados a 6 point lead. The extra point was missed. Albany High struggled to move the ball in the first half. Emmanuel Byrd was under intense pressure and failed to strike up any momentum. Meanwhile, the Tornados found more success in the passing game in the second quarter when Stafford hooked up with Willie Jones on the right side to make the score 12-0. The two point conversion failed.
The second half yielded no points for both teams. Albany is now 1-4 and will play Dougherty, Monroe now 3-2 will play at Americus on October 12th.
