ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
One south Georgia ministry held a community event Saturday to educate young people on violence.
The Beacon of Light Ministries hosted the community picnic at their Maple Street Headquarters.
Albany Fire and Police Officers spoke to folks young and old about the importance of loving thy neighbor.
"Because we are concerned about the robbing and killing in our community we want everyone to know that the officials in our community can not do it themselves. It takes everyone. It takes a community effort," said Pastor Helen Mackey Bishop.
Every child was given a new backpack which were previously donated to the ministry.
