(WOIO) -

It's not going to stop the bombardment of commercials, but voters can end their part of the campaign season by casting ballots as early as Tuesday.

Statewide, more early voters are expected than in 2008. More than 10 percent of registered voters have already mailed applications for absentee ballots and the campaigns have taken notice.

In Avon Lake, Romney supporters are hitting the phones in an effort to reach voters. The Romney campaign planned to knock on 200,000 doors today and will continue that blitz every Saturday until the election.

On the East Side of Cleveland, Obama supporters are doing the same, putting on emphasis on getting people registered so they can vote.

The voter registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 9. Vote by mail application deadline is the Saturday before the election and ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 5.
