Fundraiser planned for Lee Co. girl in farming accident

LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A fundraiser is planned for 13-year-old Brooklyn Parrish, the Lee County girl who's scalp was torn off in a farm accident.

Brooklyn Parrish was helping her grandfather drill post holes with a tractor auger in July when her ponytail was caught in the PTO shaft.

Doctors were able to re-attach her scalp and she's been recovering ever since.

But the family says the hospital bills are overwhelming.

That's why people in the community are hosting a co-ed softball tournament on Saturday, October 6th to raise funds for the family.

"She still has a long road to recovery ahead of her, medical bills, and different issues. We're trying to raise money for the family to help out any way we can and the soft ball community really rallies around things like this," said Stacey Hannah, Tournament Director.

Teams will be made up of 10 to 12 people and cost two hundred and $40 dollars to register.

They will also be raffling off several items and are asking for food donations.
