Governor Nathan Deal signed an executive order Friday removing all five Miller County School Board members.

The board members who were removed are Leroy Bush, Bob Eldridge, David Lovering, Renza Israel, and Terry Pickle.

Deal announced in April that he would replace the board due to infighting which jeopardized the system's accreditation.

The state school board recommended they be removed over evidence that members threatened to fire employees and hurled expletives at each other in meetings.

Monica Posey, Craig Tully, J. C. Buddy Johnson, Richard Little and Billy Roland were named to the board after being chosen by a nominating committee

This is the first time, under a law passed last year that the governor has ousted school board members.
