The strongest high school football region in the state has gotten even stronger with Camden County and Brunswick joining region 1-AAAAAA this year.
The battle for the title starts tonight with not one, not two but three big region openers.
It wasn't easy but we picked Lowndes at Colquitt County is our game of the week.
The unbeaten Vikings are back at the Hog Pen for a second straight year.
Colquitt County, which has won three straight after a season opening loss, thumped Lowndes 34-7 last year.
The Packer victory was their first over Lowndes since 1999.
It was a loss the Vikings haven't forgotten and the Packers know Lowndes is coming to the Hog Pen with a score to settle.
Colquitt County head coach Rush Propst said. "You are picking the best game. The rivalry is amped up anyway. Especially, this year more than years past. We want to win alwfully bad. They want to win awfully bad. Both teams will play awfully hard. I promise you that."
Lowndes head coach Randy McPherson said. "It has been different kind of week. There is a lot more focus at practice. Kids want to get out and play. We have had a good week of practice. Had a good week last week. I think we are getting better."
Lowndes has won 14 of the last 16 games.
The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Moultrie and WALB News 10 will have highlights at 11pm on the Locker Room Report.
