WG&L commissioners approve proposal to buy land

Posted: Updated:

Water Gas and Light Commissioners had a full agenda in their meeting Thursday morning.

Commissioners approved a proposal to buy an acre of land the West end on Kensington Court.

The total purchase amount for the land is $45,250, and will be used to build a new water tower.

They have not set a date for when the tower will be built, but we're told it's something Northwest Albany really needs.

"The new water tower is needed to have the water pressure, in Northwest Albany where it should be. The pressure is getting lower  as things are being built," said Assistant General Manager Keith Goodin.

We're told Riverquarium Officials sent over an email requesting permission to dig a water well late Thursday afternoon.

The email states their dechlorinator is not working and that directly affects the fish. The best way to fix that problem is to dig a new well.

Commissioners tabled the issue until more information is provided to the board.
