ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
A butterfly garden in Albany is getting a lot of attention.
Monday, organizers behind the Radium Springs butterfly garden delivered some good news to the Dougherty County Commissioners.
The idea was brought to commissioners a year ago and it has become a huge success and is receiving a lot of publicity.
Organizers are currently in the process of getting the garden certified as a monarch pollinator garden.
"We wanted to not only have a butterfly garden, we wanted to have a monarch butterfly garden so that we could connect and talk about the wonderful people in Southwest Georgia, the beautiful natural resources," said Suzanna McIntosh, the co-chair of the Southwest Georgia Master Gardeners Committee.
The garden is a partnership between Dougherty County, Albany Technical College and the Southwest Georgia Master Gardeners.
Organizers hope to hold a formal dedication within the next month.
