GA gas prices move in a welcome direction

Posted: Updated:

Average retail gasoline prices in Georgia have fallen 7.8¢ per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.67 per gallon Sunday.

This compares with the national average that has fallen 4.3¢ per gallon in the last week to $3.81 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GeorgiaGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Georgia during the past week, prices yesterday were 34.4 ¢ per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 1.7¢ per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has increased 8.8¢  per gallon during the last month and stands 29.0¢ per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

"The national average has begun to drop nicely over the last week, and while it certainly doesn't feel like much, it is noteworthy," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "Oil prices were all over the map last week, closing in on $100/bbl one day and dropping to $92 a barrel later in the week. I've probably had more double takes watching oil prices in the last week than I've had all summer. Watching oil prices last week was as wild as watching the Detroit Tigers try to take a division lead over the White Sox," DeHaan said.

GasBuddy operates GeorgiaGasPrices.com and over 250 similar websites that track gasoline prices at over 140,000 gasoline stations in the United States and Canada. In addition, GasBuddy offers a free smartphone app which has been downloaded over 20 million times to help motorists find gasoline prices in their area.
