DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) -

The body of 28-year-old Michael Anthoney Edwards was found Saturday night in a wooded area in the 500 block of McDonald Avenue in Douglas.

Edwards died after being shot once in the upper body.

One neighbor is left in grief.

"All I can say is that I'm going to miss him and it's sad you don't know who did it," said Cassidy White.

"He was a good person. He would always come by my house and speak with me and stuff. I think it's crazy that someone would do a good person like that," White continued.

Now Douglas Police say something at the crime scene may change the course of the investigation that is currently being worked as a homicide.

"We recovered a firearm along with the body. We're looking at all of our options. Whether it be self inflected or caused by another individual. We're not ruling out anything at this point," said Douglas PD Detective Sgt. Robert Sprinkle.

As for White, he's left to mourn the death of a good friend that he says will be dearly missed.

"He was a good dude, a good friend of mine. I'm going to miss him. Just a good friend of mine is gone. I'm going to miss him and I'll be at his funeral. I miss you man. Rest in peace," said White.

Edwards' body was sent off to the GBI crime lab for further investigation. We'll keep you updated as more information comes in.
