CORDELE, GA (WALB) -
Cordele and Crisp County officials are putting the finishing touches on T-Splost projects they say will also boost the economy.
The River Valley Region was one of just three that passed the penny sales tax for transportation projects in July.
City officials say the biggest project on their list is a new bridge that connects Crisp and Sumter Counties over Lake Blackshear.
"Now will be time to go back to those project lists and really establish a timeline for this particular T-Splost issue, the length of time it'll be happening. Of Course in January 2013, we'll start collecting the funds on the sales tax," said Cordele Interim City Manager Edward Beach.
Beach says the Intermodal Transit Center, which is directly connected by rail to the Port of Savannah, won't get T-Splost money, but the infrastructure improvements paid for by the revenue will help that inland port grow and handle more imported goods.
