Folks put on colorful ties at an event for a special cause, Thursday Night.

They gathered at Doublegate Country Club for the Cancer Ties fundraiser.

This is the 6th year the event has raised money to help one south Georgian battling cancer.

This year, the proceeds are going to Brittany Stalvey.

"We are very proud of this event because it always impacts a local family. This money does not leave our area at all. You can actually look at the person in the room with their family to see where this money is going," said Event Organizer Carrie Hutchinson.

The ties worn at the event represent unity with those suffering from cancer.
