After a dominating win in Jerry's house last week at Cowboys Stadium, the Valdosta State Blazers are back at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium for their Gulf South Conference opener Saturday night.
The Blazers will open their conference schedule against West Alabama.
This is a meeting of the two teams picked to finish one and two in the Gulf South by conference coaches back in the summer.
Valdosta State is the preseason pick to win the Gulf South title.
Through three games the Blazers have the top ranked offense in the conference in terms of yards.
West Alabama has the top defense in the Gulf South so far this season and head coach David Dean remembers the Tigers defense were tough to score on last year.
David Dean said. "I think we are a little better offensively than we were last year but on the flip side I think they are a little better than they were defensively. That is going to be a heck of a challenge. We have to get off to a good start. Get some confidence on both sides of the ball."
Valdosta State has never lost at home to West Alabama.
Game time is 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium.
