EMTs save little boy after accidental shooting

SUMTER COUNTY, GA -

Paramedics resuscitated a little boy in Sumter County tonight after he was shot with a high-powered pellet rifle.

Two year-old Levi Umanzor is at a hospital in Macon now, but we're told he's doing better.

The boy suffered a punctured lung and stopped breathing when he was shot in the chest about 6:30 p.m. outside his home on Wiggins Road north of Smithville.

His uncle, 17 year-old Cody Purvis, was firing the gun to empty the pellets before he left the home. Little Levi was running around the corner of the home and was hit.

Sheriff Pete Smith says it was an accident. He's still investigating, but he doesn't anticipate filing charges.
