Clay Co. man arrested in marijuana bust

 Information from the Pataula Regional Drug Task Force

BLUFFTON, GA- On Friday, September 14, 2012, Troy Dean Whitehurst, age 45, of Bluffton, Georgia, was arrested and charged with one (1) count of Trafficking in Marijuana and one (1) count of Manufacturing Marijuana in reference to an ongoing Narcotics Investigation being conducted by the Pataula Drug Task Force, Edison Police Department, and the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

The initial investigation into Whitehurst stemmed from a traffic stop performed by the Edison Police Department during the morning hours on Friday, September 14, 2012. A search of the vehicle Whitehurst was traveling in resulted in an Officer locating over an ounce of marijuana and products commonly used to manufacture marijuana.

Based on this and other information Pataula Drug Task Force Agents and Clay County Sheriff's Department Deputies then obtained a search warrant and executed it at Whitehurst's residence, 2354 West Bluffton Road, Bluffton, Georgia.

During the search of Whitehurst's property, Agents and Deputies located 90 marijuana plants growing and approximately 30 pounds of harvested marijuana inside of a shed on the property.
