THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Burglars broke into seven homes and businesses in Thomasville in the last 24 hours as a burglary trend continues.
Investigators were already backlogged, looking into about 40 unsolved burglaries in the last month and a half.
If you drove through Thomasville Wednesday, you may have noticed some broken windows, smashed doors, or an increase in cops patrolling the streets.
Investigators say Lanter Communications is one of seven places hit by burglars in just the last 24 hours.
Investigators say commercial burglaries and home invasions have become a serious problem in the city.
"We really are not sure if they are related or not. We are investigating to try to put together to see if they actually are related. We'll be able to determine that at a later date based on evidence we collect," said Lt. Eric Hampton.
South Street resident Emory Virgil now has to replace a screen door, a window, and the items stolen from his home.
"Times are hard. The economy is bad. And for someone to have things taken from them, it's really hurtful to our citizens and the victims of these crimes," said Hampton.
Police are asking the community to be on the lookout for cell phones, televisions, computers, or other items that were stolen.
"If they see anyone trying to sell, or if they have purchased anything from someone that may have been involved or taken from one of these burglaries," said Hampton.
The owner of Lanter Communications says Tuesday night's break in was the second at his store this month. Both times thieves took laptops, cell phones, and two way radios.
If you know anything about any of the break-ins, Thomasville Police want to hear from you.
