People involved in all aspects of the peanut industry are gathering in south Georgia this week; optimistic about an outstanding harvest.
The 26th annual Georgia Peanut Tour kicked off in Albany this afternoon.
It will make stops in several peanut producing counties in the area.
Experts from the University of Georgia held seminars this afternoon on subjects such as peanut disease management and the outlook for this year's crop.
"I buy all the peanuts for ...Foods and I figure the more information I have about the peanut crop, how it's doing, what do we expect in the years to come, how did it do this year verses last year, the more information I can get, the better I can make decisions in the future on buying the peanuts and the peanut products," says local peanut buyer Grant Tuttle.
The tour brings the latest information and provides a first-hand view of industry production and processing.
