VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Investigators are working to figure out what caused a Valdosta night club to catch fire over the weekend.

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office is now leading the investigation into a suspicious fire Saturday afternoon at Vegas Night Club on U.S. Highway 84.

Investigators are waiting for test results to determine if the fire was arson, but they say what they found at the scene was unusual.

"There was a ventilation fan that was found not to be secured properly to the roof and there was also a garbage can that was found up on the roof," said Detective Mark Maskule.

The garbage can was covering the ventilation fan.

We couldn't reach the club owner today to find out his plans, but investigators say the building can be repaired.
