MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

A young family of three is without their home after their Colquitt County home went up in flames.

Around 11 o'clock Saturday night, Michael Resendiz noticed flames in his home and got out just before the blaze spread. A power line that fell on the roof appears to have caused the fire. Now they family is trying to put the pieces back together and move on after a horrific night.

Melted toys and charred wood is all that's left of the house the Resendiz family called home.

They lost everything, including their dog, Saturday night to flames that engulfed their Sylvester Drive home.

"Everything that we both worked hard for is all gone," says Michael Resendiz.

A power line fell onto their roof around 11 o'clock Saturday night.

Michael Resendiz was the only one home at the time of the fire and says the power line hit the meter box which sparked. With aluminum wiring throughout the house, it only took minutes for the home to be swallowed by flames.

"I tried to go back inside to get my dog but as soon as I opened the door the flames and I started to run inside the flames just came out the door," says Michael Resendiz.

"There was just flames everywhere, and he went back inside to try to save the dog, and the smoke was too bad and he barely made it out," says Krissi Resendiz.

The Resendiz family had just moved in about a month ago and were still getting their 2 year old son situated in his new home.

But now the family of three is left with just the clothes on their back.

"All of his clothes, all of his shoes, everything is gone," says Krissi Resendiz.

But after everything they have lost, Krissi Resendiz says she feels blessed to have her family.

"I am thankful my husband made it out and I am thankful that my son wasn't there, because if all of us would have been here, there is no way all of us would have made it out," says Krissi Resendiz.

For now they will continue to pick up the pieces and hopefully turn this horrible instance into a fresh start.
