Some Albany residents spent the day going green by getting rid of trash around their homes.

Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful held a Go Green Recycling Event. People dropped off their old electronics, medication, and personal documents. Organizers say most people do not know how to properly dispose of these items, which is why the city wanted to do it for the community.

"Otherwise it would go into the trash or the dumpster, and we want to be able to correctly educate people how to recycle," says Jeanette Henderson, KADB Chairperson.

At last year's event, almost 96,000 pills were collected and over 46,000 pounds of electronics. Organizers say this year should be even better.
