TERRELL COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A Terrell County man in jail for murdering his father was on probation for attacking his father last year.

In addition to murder charges, 23-year-old Jacory Jenkins will face additional charges after leading law enforcement on a wild chase.

Students walking to class Friday morning at Darton College were stunned to see a high speed chase come to an end on campus. The man they saw taken into custody Jacory Jenkins was not armed.

But today we learned about his troubling past that culminated this morning when agents say he turned a rifle on his own father.

The quiet campus of Darton College was crawling with law enforcement. It became a spectacle for students, some of whom witnessed a wild police chase end behind the bookstore.

"When we came out of class and saw all the police shoot back towards the dorm, then they came back here," said Darton Student Randall Carter.

"All of a sudden there's all these cars and police officers surrounded the car and they pull out their guns and said 'Get down! Get down!,'" said Darton student Cassandra Davis.

But what these students didn't realize is the man who led police onto their campus was wanted for murder.

As a deputy hauled off 23-year-old Jacory Jenkins, 15 miles away in Sasser is where GBI agents say he shot and killed his father outside their home on Chain Gang Road.

"It was a domestic dispute between a father and son," said GBI Agent Mark Pro.

Family members consoled one another, torn over the death of 66-year-old Robert Ernest Jenkins. Agents say Jacory shot him with a rifle as a witness looked on.

"There are people who heard it. neighbors who heard it. There was a witness on scene who saw the event," Pro said.

And this is not the first time Jacory Jenkins has been accused of violence against his father. He served 12 months last year for attacking his father with a metal paper towel holder and obstructing a law enforcement. He was serving 10 years probation for that act.

Family members were too distraught to go on camera but said it's a sad ending for a man to lose his life at the hands of his own son.

And we're told that Ernest Jenkins was shot several times. This afternoon GBI agents were interviewing Jacory Jenkins who will be charged with felony murder.

And he put other lives in danger as well, luckily no one was hurt on the Darton Campus. But Westover High School was briefly placed on lockdown as the chase went down Westover Boulevard.
