ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
If you don't redneckognize Honey Boo Boo, you must be living under a rock.
The spunky 7-year-old, whose real name is Alana Thompson has put McIntyre, GA, on the map.
Honey Boo Boo lives in the little town with her self-described "crazy family."
They get excited over roadkill (which they cook up and eat), load up on junk food, and burping and passing gas at the Thompson dinner table is not frowned upon.
Alana began her rocket ride to stardom when she appeared on the fifth season premiere of Toddlers & Tiaras.
One appearance of the dimpled darling and America was hooked.
The execs at TLC knew a good thing when they saw it and gave Honey Boo Boo and her entire clan their very own show.
About 2.2 million viewers tuned in for the series premiere on Aug. 8 and she got better ratings than Mitt Romney and Bill Clinton during their parties' national conventions.
That alone says volumes about the Honey Boo Boo phenomenon.
Even though the blonde cutie seems plenty energetic on her show, she does get a little run-down at pageants.
So her mom, June Shannon, came up with a drink she calls "go-go juice."
It's a blend of Mountain Dew and Red Bull and contains enough sugar and caffeine to get Honey Boo Boo jacked to the max.
Alana's unique antics on the show and her go-go juice drew some serious attention.
Shannon ended up on HLN's Dr. Drew defending herself from accusations she was damaging her daughter's health.
In February, CBS Atlanta's Jennifer Banks traveled to McIntyre to interview the family.
Banks asked Shannon about her peppy concoction and her parenting skills, and we got an inside look at what really makes Alana tick .
The CBS Atlanta News interview began trending on several entertainment websites.
Because of the overwhelming response from viewers, we decided to attend a press junket at the Macon City Marriott.
