LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) -
Investigators are working to figure out what caused a fire that destroyed a house near Valdosta.
Lowndes County Firefighters responded to a home on McDougal Lane yesterday, but it was too late to save it.
One relative said the home was more than 50 years old and had been in the family for decades.
"Once fire rescue arrived it was just a matter of putting the fire out and red cross was called to take care of the family, you know any house fire is extremely tragic and always hard to deal with but thankfully in this instance no one was hurt," said Paige Dukes, Lowndes County Public Information Officer.
