An historic building in Downtown Albany has a chic new look and is ready to host meetings, conferences, and parties.

For years, the Nelson Tift Building was the site of the Goodwill store. It then sat empty for a long time.

Owner Bob Brooks began renovating the first two floors last summer. The building now has new elevators, a new kitchen, conference tables and chairs, and a 10-foot projector screen.

The General Manager of the Nelson Tift Convention Center says the renovation is moving Downtown Albany in the right direction. "We can bring back the love for the city and it also gives a chance for us to come down and focus on what belongs to us. We don't have to go outside of Albany to have conventions and focus our events to the Good Life City, but then the historic areas which are downtown," said Colette Jenkins.

The Nelson Tift Convention Center will host Albany Fashion week which kicks off Thursday.
