An escaped inmate from the Mitchell County Correctional Institute is back in custody.

David Gilbert was captured around 8:10 tonight in Miller County.

He was found in a field on Harmony Church Road, north of Colquitt.

Gilbert walked off a work detail near Baconton yesterday.

Sheriff W. E. Bozeman says Gilbert's girlfriend and his brother will be charged with helping him.

The Ga. State Patrol,  Miller County Sheriff's office and the Baker County Sheriff assisted with the search for Gilbert.

Gilbert is serving time for stealing metal.
