Albany Police are investigating the theft of an AK-47 rifle and ten magazines of ammunition stolen from a car on West Gordon Avenue overnight.
Michael Giovonti went to his car about 6:30 AM and noticed the gun, ammunition, his wallet and a drill were all missing.
Facebook postings about the missing gun led to false rumors of shootings.
Giovonti told us he has an idea who stole his gun and he says the guy is dangerous.
"He's a very unstable person and we need to get that gun off the street because it's an assault rifle. We have kids out here and we don't want anybody to get hurt," said Giovonti.
