Officials at Albany Tech hope a new GED testing process will speed up the procedure and help more students pass.

Monday, the new Pearson Vue Testing Lab was unveiled, where folks take the GED test on the computer.

Starting in December, the test will no longer be administered on paper.

Officials hope the changes will boost the number of people taking the test.

"Right now a person can come in, take the test and we will be able to provide them the results of their test at the end of the test with the exception of writing which will take a few extra steps and they should get it in a shorter period of time than they are at this time," said Linda Coston, Associate VP of Adult Education at

Paper based testing will continue at the department of corrections.
