DONALSONVILLE, GA (WALB) - Authorities in Seminole County may have found the dog that killed four-year old Brayton Cason, but they say they may never know for sure.

Seminole County Sheriff Heath Elliot says his deputies picked up an abandoned yellowish-red bulldog mix over the weekend, which was the dog described by Cason's family.

The dog does not have an owner, and GBI Agent Steve Turner says they may not be able to confirm this is the one who mauled the little boy.

"Unfortunately in this case we don't have an eye witness so we can just make some assumptions. There are several dogs in that neighborhood. Most of those dogs were either locked up behind a fence or in someone's house. There certainly are some dogs in that area that are big enough to do something like that, but problem is if someone doesn't see it, it's kind of hard to tell," said Turner.

Sheriff Elliot says GBI investigators will be in Donalsonville tomorrow to examine the dog.
