Lorenzo Heard (right) and his attorney petitioned the elections board to get on the ballotThere will be a two person race for the Dougherty County School Board at-large seat.
Reverend Lorenzo Heard has been certified as an official write-in candidate for the November general election.
He plans to continue to move forward with a lawsuit against the board of elections hoping a judge will put his name on the ballot as an independent.
"We feel the voters deserve better. The voters deserve someone who looks after their children and care about their kids and want to make sure that we have a superb school system," said Rev. Heard.
The board of elections ruled Heard did not get enough petition signatures to run as an independent.
He'll try to defeat Dr. Lane Price who won the Democratic nomination for the seat.
