A national service program is helping families in need stay clean.
The AmeriCorps VISTA's of the United Way of Southwest Georgia are sponsoring a Community Hygiene Supply Drive to benefit service organizations.
Through Saturday, you'll be able to donate hygiene items such as soap, toothpaste, brushes, and under garments at numerous Albany businesses.
The Salvation Army is one organization that will benefit.
Officials say with 600 people visiting their shelter each month, they need those basic items more than anything.
"When you are buying for 150 people, it can get quite expensive, that is why it is so helpful when people step forward and buy it for us," says Major Kelly English. Salvation Army Core Officer.

The AmeriCorps VISTA's of the United Way of Southwest Georgia are sponsoring a Community Hygiene Supply Drive to benefit organizations who help the needy.
Multiple agencies will benefit from this hygiene supply drive, including Faith Community Outreach, Liberty House, Strive 2 Thrive, The Salvation Army, A Place 4 Hope, and Dougherty County Schools Parent Facilitators.
"We saw the need, there is a lot of people in need and it is a basic need in the community, we were hearing about kids needing socks and soap and so we just wanted to do something for these people," says Erin HutchinsAmeriCorps VISTA.
Starting tomorrow through September 15th, boxes will be placed at numerous Albany businesses where you can donate hygiene items such as soap, toothpaste, brushes, and under garments.

Adults: Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Mouthwash, Deodorant, Soap, Shampoo & Conditioner (For all hair types), Hair Brushes, Combs, Lotion, Feminine Hygiene Products
Miscellaneous: Underwear & Socks (for all ages), First Aid Kit
