MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

A young mother in Moultrie needs a transplant and she hopes someone in south Georgia will be a match.

After Teniki Doe Leverette was diagnosed with Lupus, her kidney's started failing. Now she trying to raise enough money in order to be eligible to get on the donor list.

In 2006, Teniki Doe Leverette got some life changing news from her doctor.

"I was diagnosed with Lupus, which is a chronic blood disease, and the type of Lupus I have, is the type that attacks my organs," says Teniki Doe Leverette.

After years of chemotherapy and countless operations, her kidney's started failing. Doctors told her best option was to get a kidney transplant.

"I am a single parent, I have one daughter who is nine, and my mother died when I was twelve, and I am only 32 years old so that would mean a lot to me because I want to give my daughter a life with her mother that I didn't have with my own mother," says Leverette.

Over the last few years she's had to quit work and isn't able to spend as much time with her 9 year old daughter. She's even had to miss her daughter compete in gymnastics meets.

"It took a lot from me because I am not bale to be there for her and do activities, I am so used to us doing stuff together and I am not able to do it anymore," says Leverette.

She undergoes hours of dialysis treatment three times a week, as she waits to be put on a donor list.

She is approved to get on the list but first she has to raise $2,500 for the medication she will have to take after she receives a transplant.

"You have like ten different medicines you have to take that make sure that your body does not reject the kidney," says Leverette.

She says the support from the community has been unending, giving her the hope for the future and a new kidney.
