Volunteers erect 1,000 flags for 9/11

Tuesday will mark the 11th anniversary of the 9-11 terror attacks, and the American Legion set up their Field of Flags Saturday.

Volunteers spent their Saturday morning putting up one thousand American flags on the grounds of the Albany mall, covering about an acre of land.

This is the tenth annual Patriots' Field of Flags to honor fallen soldiers and their families.

"Just seeing this field out here for Veterans and those in active service, it just gives them a feeling that they understand the public appreciates what they have gone through and what they are doing for us," says Marvin Mixon, Patriots' Field Of Flags Program Chairman.

Tuesday, September 11th a Memorial Ceremony will be held honoring fallen troops from Georgia. The field of flags will stay up through September 16th.
