Pumpkins looking ripe & ready at Mark's Melon Patch

Posted: Updated:

SASSER, GA – It's still summer but the harvest is already starting for a popular fall crop.

At Mark Melon's Patch in Sasser, pumpkins are already coming out of the field.

Owner Mark Daniel says recent rains have been beneficial to the 15 acres of pumpkins he grows, but now they need some dry weather.

"We started getting a lot of rain, which was a blessing because a couple of fields can't get any water because they don't have irrigation. So it's a good time now to kind of dry it out a little bit. We've got some cool weather coming in next week so we're getting excited about fall," said Daniel.

Fall festivities will kick of September 22nd at Mark's Melon Patch and run through end of October.

They feature hay rides, games for kids, and of course thousands of pumpkins.
