LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -
Lee County native Luke Bryan is one of the biggest stars in country music, racking up millions in sales, but he's never won a Country Music Association award.
But that could change soon.
Bryan got two CMA nominations for his latest album Taglines and Tanlines.
Luke Bryan is everywhere these days. In the record store, on the internet and on tour. Now he's getting recognized for his work - again.
LeClaire Bryan is Luke's mother. She said, "he's been nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year."
While his latest release has reached platinum status, getting nominated for two CMA awards was a bit of a surprise to him.
"He had no idea he was going to be nominated," said LeClaire Bryan.
They say that behind every good man is a good woman, and one woman who will definitely be behind Bryan when the awards are given out is his mother. She's been at his side before at shows like this one.
"You get to see all of the stars. I get to go backstage and I ride up with Luke and Caroline in the limousine," she said.
Rubbing elbows with the biggest stars in country music.
"I met Reba in Las Vegas," she said.
Bryan's mom will be looking forward to traveling to Nashville. And possibly meeting her other favorite country artist: George Strait.
Regardless of whether Luke Bryan wins an award or not, LeClaire Bryan will still be happy for her son.
"I'm just so proud of Luke's accomplishments," she said.
And she won't be alone. Thousands of others in South Georgia will also cheer the accomplishments of a local boy who's taken country music by storm.
If you want to see Luke Bryan - and maybe even his mother - at the CMA's you can tune in to the ceremony on November 1st at 8 p.m. on WALB ABC.
